This rain tastes of

pomegranate

as it washes away

the last cinnamon stamp

Autumn's leaves imprinted into the concrete

to testify their presence

before

the wind peeled them from the sidewalk

one last time

into the sighing, aged grass

to surrender themselves from our memory

and into the earth.

Aspen Duscha is a writer who collects words and stones between cups of coffee, often found admiring leaves freckled with raindrops. Aspen's poems have appeared in Marias at Sampaguitas, Small leaf press and Leaves of Ink in addition to Cettle Kooked while Aspen's short story "The Gift '' recently was published in wicked shadow press's flash of fangs anthology.
