Don't you love when you need no sleep?

Love when the invincibility settles in

When you feel like a God

You know you’re one

Love it when you stand in the middle of traffic

And the cars swerve to make way

Love it when you know you’re untouchable

Love it when you know that if Atlas were to hand you the sky

you'd hold it higher than he ever could

Love it when you're laughing in a silent room

and they want to know the joke

Love it when...

You love it.

Because you're higher than everyone around you

You've always been better...

Just like Atlas holds the sky...

The fact of the matter is...

You're better.

You're God.

Don't you love it?!

Alyssa Davis is a twenty-two year old college student from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Atlas is a poem from a larger collection about domestic violence and rape.
